Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one of the newer lung cancer treatment options available today. Lung cancers are sometimes inoperable, particularly when they are situated in the bronchi or trachea. Similarly, cancers that have spread from other parts of the body to the bronchi cannot be removed surgically.

In the available alternative lung cancer treatment techniques people are relieved from pain and stress. They are not completely getting cured from cancer. Surgery is normally used to treat cancers that have not spread beyond the lungs. There are two main types of surgery that are used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. Where possible one of the lobes of the lung is removed in a surgical process called a lobectomy. However, if the cancer has spread beyond the lobe then the entire lung may have to be removed in a process called a pneumonectomy.

There are two types of radiation therapy which are used to treat lung cancer. First one is external and second one is internal. The external one is given in the form of radiations and internal one in the form of injections in the area around the tissue of tumor. Side effects can be redness in the area of skin which received the radiation.

Soybeans have an antioxidant known as Genistein and might inhibit the expansion of the cancer cells. Other antioxidants that aid in lung cancer cures are Alpha carotene, beta carotene, and other carotenoids. But, many scientists believe that beta carotene can also be connected with an elevated rate of lung cancer and death in the smokers, and people exposed to asbestos.

Chemotherapy is also used to reduce the risk of the cancer recurring. The kind of chemotherapy used depends on the type of cancer and where it is located in the lungs. Radiotherapy is often used along with chemotherapy.

Acupuncture. This is a very old practice that involves inserting long, thin needles into strategic points along the body. (The needles are so sharp, and so gently used, that this should not hurt.) Many people have reported benefits of this method, including reduced pain or nausea, as well as increased relaxation and improved spirits.

The Sassafras tea is one of many alternative treatments that can be used along with conventional treatments, to make treating cancer safer and more effective. The more people know about alternative medicine the more effectively it can be used.
